Step 1: Finding the Event Niche

Before you start you need to find the event niche which you would like to target for your blog.

There are two things which you need to consider while choosing your event niche:

  • The event should be less-competitive.
  • There should be more searches and traffic for this niche in search engines.

What I’m trying to say is that, for example if you choose a heavily saturated niche like “Happy New Year” your chances of getting high traffic is really less.

Since the niche “Happy New Year” has high competition, the chances of your event blog ranking high in search engines is really less.

On the other hand if you choose a very low-competitive niche like “Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday”, still your chances of getting traffic is less.

So, to become successful in event blogging you need to find the right balance between competition and search traffic.

To determine the competition of a niche you can use google trends and to find the number of searches for your chosen niche you can use Google’s keyword planner.

Step 2: Finding Popular Websites and Publishing Content

Now that you have found your niche, the next step is to find your competition.

To do this find all the websites which belongs to your chosen event category. Make a list of all those websites in a word or excel document. Analyze the type of content in these websites and prepare your own strategy in writing your content.

After preparing the strategy, start implementing it.This is one of the most difficult and important step for your event blog. You content should be engaging and interesting.

Publish a minimum of 10 posts with at least 500 words per post for your event blog. Your post’s should not violate any of the AdSense policies.

Step 3: Driving Traffic

After publishing your blog, now you need to market it. The best way to market an event blog is through other event blogs.

To make it clear, start commenting your blog’s link in other blogs comment section just a week before the actual event.

Why I’m saying just a week is that only then you could be able to find the blogs which are genuinely ranking for that event niche.

Now, you might think that this could be spam and your blogs rank might decrease. Yes, this is spam and your event blog’s rank will decrease.

But you need to remember that event blogging is just temporary, once the event gets over no one cares about your blog even when it is ranking in number one position in search results.

If everything goes according to plan, your blog will get spontaneous traffic of hundreds of visitors per day and you could earn thousands of dollars with AdSense.
